Overcome your weaker self

Today. Run. Go.

Many people find it difficult to exercise regularly. We'll show you how you can defy your weaker self. These tips will help you prepare for the training and the B2Run.

Plan activities
If you plan your sports activities concretely, you will have an easier time implementing them. Think about when (e.g. Monday at 6:30 p.m.) you want to do what (e.g. go for a 6 km run) with whom (e.g. with a work colleague).

The more precise the plan, the more likely you are to follow it. It pays off to critically examine whether your plan is actually workable for you: It should match your available resources in terms of time and money, but also in terms of your skills. It wouldn't be workable, for example, if you've just started running but want to tackle 15 km at a time or four exercise sessions per week straight away.

Put plans in writing and observe yourself
Write down your exercise plans in your diary at the beginning of each week. Writing it down increases the commitment to actually be proactive. It often also helps to hang up the plan in a prominent place (e.g. refrigerator). However, plans must always stand the test in reality. It is therefore a good idea to look back at the goals you have set at the end of the week and compare and evaluate them with the activities you have actually undertaken. You can also reward yourself once in a while after you achieve specific exercise goals, for example by going to a concert with a friend. You may even have done additional exercise sessions. Record these as well so you have a clear picture of your exercise activities. Use this reflective period to improve your weekly plan for the following week. If you notice that an activity was unrealistically planned (e.g. duration too long), adjust your plan.

Visualise your plan
Some people find it helpful to visualise their exercise plans. Try it: Close your eyes. Imagine a scenario where you plan some physical exercise. For example, in your mind go home from work, put on your jogging clothes, and tackle the forest trail. Make a commitment to yourself to implement the plan!
